The right-hander had the shortest outing of his career in a 17-7 loss to Las Vegas.
Albuquerque Isotopes pitcher Jeff Hoffman gave up more than three earned runs in a start for the first time this season in a 17-7 loss to the Las Vegas 51s.
Hoffman lasted just 2 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits with three walks and three strikeouts. His ERA for the season rose by nearly a full run, from 2.67 to 3.49 in the right-hander’s shortest outing of the season.
The seven runs allowed by Hoffman were a career high, though few of the other pitchers involved in the slugfest fared much better on a hot, dry night at altitude, conditions similar to those that saw starters Jeff Locke and Chad Bettis combine to allow 16 runs in 7 2/3 innings in Denver earlier in the day.
