The Colorado Rockies’ four-game winning streak was ended via a heartbreaking walk-off loss to the Nationals yesterday.
Now they return to their hometown of Denver to play host to the division rival Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend. You’d be forgiven for thinking the series was taking place in AZ, though, given the sweltering temperatures that will be reached throughout the three games.
Friday evening’s opening contest should at least be livable. That’s when Austin Gomber (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will make his second start of the season. Last time out, he tossed five strong shutout innings against the Atlanta Braves, setting his team up for what would become a lopsided win.
