Carson Palmquist’s Major League debut may not have played out like he’d hoped when he gave up five runs on six hits in an 8-0 loss to Arizona, but he has a chance to bounce back tonight when the Rockies (8-40) host the Phillies (30-18).
Palmquist (0-1, 11.25 ERA) was called up on May 16 and made his debut a day later after posting a 3.82 ERA and 2-2 record in seven starts with 45 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings. The 24-year-old LHP has a knack for striking out batters, averaging 11.84 strikeouts per nine innings in 54 Minor League appearances (53 starts) over four seasons.
