Colorado Rockies: Charlie Blackmon wins NL Player of the Week Award

It may not be all that considering how well he played last weekend but Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon has won the NL Player of the Week Award for his play last week.

In seven games this week, Blackmon hit a mind boggling .568/.568/1.216 with six home runs, 15 RBI, 4 doubles, a triple, 21 total hits, and 15 runs.

15 of those 21 hits came in the four-game series that the Rockies just finished with the San Diego Padres. In the Padres series, he went 15-for-24 with 4 home runs and 10 RBI.

As we noted in this article earlier this morning, Blackmon is the is the first player in the modern era (since 1900) with 15 hits in a four-game series and only the third player since World War II to have 15 hits in a series, regardless of the number of games in the series.
