Colorado Rockies call up LHP Tyler Anderson, place Jake McGee on DL

The Colorado Rockies have placed closer Jake McGee on the 15-day disabled list with knee inflammation and promoted left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson from Triple-A Albuquerque to take his place, according to Thomas Harding.

Anderson was the Rockies first round pick in 2011 out of the University of Oregon. His first appearance will constitute his major-league debut. Anderson’s development has been slowed by a variety of injuries, including elbow pain left over from a stress fracture that cost him the entire 2015 season.

Anderson clocked in at 17 in Purple Row’s last PuRP voting, although he’s fallen off of other prospect lists, primarily due to injuries and subsequent lost time.
