C.J. Cron looks like Rockies’ lone all-star candidate as voting begins

Fan voting for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game begins Tuesday. Don’t expect the Rockies, who sit in the National League West basement, to generate much buzz.

First baseman C.J. Cron, who’s hitting .295 with a .906 OPS and ranks fifth in the majors with 14 home runs, is the top candidate to represent the Rockies at Dodger Stadium on July 19. At this juncture, he’s probably Colorado’s lone candidate.

It’s a far cry from last summer when Colorado was pumped for the Midsummer Classic, primarily, of course, because Coors Field hosted the game. In April of last year, MLB moved the game from Atlanta to Denver in response to Georgia’s controversial new voting law, which MLB said was against its values.
