CarGo’s 480-foot blast goes just foul — then ends up in hand of a LoDo resident

In one of the more notable swings of what is fast turning into a memorable season, Carlos Gonzalez walloped a fifth-inning pitch an estimated 480 feet, just foul down the right field line, during the Rockies’ 8-1 win over Cleveland on Wednesday afternoon.

CarGo’s moonshot ended up at The Rooftop, where LoDo resident Mark Bivins, 32, made a cool one-handed catch in Section 308W. It capped a moment that — long strike or not — epitomized the buzz around Coors Field during a midweek day game than in years past would have been as ho-hum as it gets.
