Denver — In what was a very back and forth affair, the Rockies bats were able to maintain some clutch hitting throughout the game and Tyler Chatwood had a bounce-back start at Coors Field.
The Padres drew first blood in the first inning, after Chatwood walked Wil Meyers and then allowed a couple of singles to Matt Kemp and Melvin Upton Jr. The Padres scored two runs in the top of the first, but the Rockies came storming back in the first inning after Carlos Gonzalez hit a screaming line drive over the right-field wall for a three-run home run.
