Rockies interim general Bill Schmidt is a man of few words, but he was clear about a number of things Wednesday:
* He is interested in becoming the long-term GM.
* While he realizes the Rockies have things that need fixing, he doesn’t think the team needs “rebuilding.”
* One of his primary tasks will be to improve communication inside the offices at 20th and Blake. As Schmidt put it, “Get everybody pulling on the rope in the same direction. Not only the players but the whole organization.”
* He said understands the bottom line.
