Balk by Rockies’ pitcher Scott Oberg began to shut the door on NLDS comeback hopes

Scott Oberg couldn’t help but chuckle about it after the game. A thousand times before, he followed the same routine and never once had there been a mishap.

He was about to pitch himself out of a jam, just like he did in Game 1 of the National League division series.

Milwaukee led Colorado 2-0 with one out in the top of the sixth inning and had runners on second and third. Standing at the plate was Orlando Arcia. Oberg fanned the Brewers’ shortstop on three pitches and next jumped ahead of pinch hitter Curtis Granderson with a first-pitch strike.
