A’s end Rockies’ four-game winning streak as Jon Gray departs with sore elbow

Just when it looked like the Rockies were going to get really hot, the Oakland Athletics rolled into LoDo like a cold front and beat them, 9-5.

To make matters worse, starting pitcher Jon Gray left the game in the third inning with right elbow soreness and tightness in his forearm, manager Bud Black said after the game.

“We were being cautious with Jon, obviously, and we took him out of the game,” Black said, adding that he had not yet talked at length with head trainer Keith Dugger.

The A’s, leaders of the American League West, ripped Colorado pitching for 12 hits, including two home runs as Colorado’s four-game winning streak screeched to a halt.
