There is no doubt who the headliner is for the All-Star Game at Coors Field — Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani.
After competing in the Home Run Derby on Monday night, the Japanese lefty slugger and right-handed pitcher will hit leadoff and start on the mound for the American League on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Nationals right-hander Max Scherzer will start on the hill for the National League. NL skipper Dave Roberts selected Scherzer over Rockies right-hander German Marquez, who was also in contention to start.
Ohtani’s start at pitcher and DH prompted AL manager Kevin Cash to petition the league for a rule tweak that allows Ohtani to stay in the lineup after he’s done pitching.
