1. Seattle Sounders FC entered MLS in 2009 and played their first league match against the Colorado Rapids seven years ago this weekend, on May 23 that year. That first encounter ended 2-2 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
2. The sides met again just three days later in the second qualifying round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The match, played in Seattle, was won by the Sounders 1-0.
