Rapids Special Olympics Unified Team to face Real Salt Lake counterparts Friday night

COMMERCE CITY — The Colorado Rapids and Special Olympics Colorado will be traveling to Real Salt Lake for their final match of 2016 this Friday, Aug. 26 at Rio Tinto Stadium, with the Special Olympics Rapids team taking on their counterparts from Special Olympics Utah. The match will take place tentatively at 8 p.m. MT following the conclusion of the first team’s match.

The teams will play 11v11 with two 15 minute halves and a five minute halftime. The teams have received coaching, instruction and mentoring from both Colorado Rapids and Real Salt Lake players.

This exchange program not only provides Special Olympics athletes with top-level training and competitive experiences, but also offers MLS fans an opportunity to witness the talents and abilities of Special Olympics Colorado soccer players first-hand.
