COMMERCE CITY — For the second time this season, the Rapids managed only one shot on goal last week at Orlando City. And while coach Pablo Mastroeni works on tweaks to the new offensive philosophy he installed during the preseason, players are acutely aware they need to put more shots on target.
“It’s not good enough getting one shot in a game,” speedy winger Marlon Hairston said after Tuesday’s practice. “In patches throughout the games, we’re playing well. We’re having chances to get forward, we’re crossing the ball a lot more than we ever have, but the final product at the end of those crosses just hasn’t been there.
