SAN JOSE, Calif. — Nick Lima scored his second goal of the season, David Bingham had his sixth shutout and the San Jose Earthquakes hung on to beat the Colorado Rapids 1-0 on Saturday night.
“Well it was obviously a difficult result,” Rapids coach Pablo Mastroeni said. “The first half we were quite bright and really forced the game in a lot of different ways. Good shape behind the ball, didn’t give up too many chances, created one or two decent looks on goal. In the second half, we were poor with the ball, passing on a lot of responsibility when we passed it to teammates and in doing so, lost the ball in bad spots and found ourselves in a real transition game in the second half.
