COMMERCE CITY — Zac MacMath deserved better.
Filling in for suspended goalkeeper Tim Howard, MacMath appeared to be five minutes away from posting his second shutout of the season Saturday night when Rapids center back Jared Watts was called for a handball in the penalty area and sent off with a red card. Real Salt Lake striker Yura Movsisyan put away the corner kick, tying the game 1-1.
Playing a man down, the Rapids surrendered another goal four minutes later when RSL forward Brooks Lennon took advantage of a suddenly flat-footed back four and slotted home the game-winner to pin an improbable 2-1 loss on the Rapids.
