Rapids acquire two goalkeepers, including CLINT IRWIN

That’s right - as former editor John Rosch put it, the goalkeeper of our past is now the goalkeeper of our future. The Colorado Rapids acquired the 29-year-old keeper from Toronto FC in exchange for a 2nd round draft pick (39th overall) in the 2019 MLS Super Draft.

Irwin started his career with the ‘Pids in 2013, earning 91 saves and 10 clean sheets in 32 games in his rookie year. He started for Colorado for the 2014 and 2015 seasons and then was traded to Toronto. From 2016-2018, Irwin earned 16 clean sheets in 49 appearances and played in all of Toronto’s playoff matches in the 2016 MLS Cup tournament, that they ultimately lost to the Seattle Sounders.
