COMMERCE CITY — Marlon Hairston played so well for the Rapids at right back last week that he probably played himself right out of his preferred role as a winger, where he has thrived for the past year.
Hairston, a fourth-year Rapid from the University of Louisville and one of the team’s fastest players, moved to fullback last week because starter Mekeil Williams was suspended for receiving a red card in the previous game. In a 3-0 win over San Jose, the Rapids posted their first clean sheet since the season-opening game March 4 and Hairston was named to the MLS team of the week.
