Match Report: Townsend’s brace help Rapids U23s earn three points at home

Two goals from Jaret Townsend helped the Colorado Rapids U23s secure three points at home by defeating BYU, 3-1, inside UCCS Field at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Thursday’s match marked the fourth and final meeting between the two teams in regular-season play. The U23s have an unbeaten record (2-0-2) against BYU, including two victories on home soil.

Townsend gave the Rapids the early lead as he notched his first goal of the night in the 18th minute, having received a cross from Andre Shiniyashiki.

In similar fashion, Townsend, found the back of the net in the 38th minute from new teammate, Griffin Dorsey.
