The Colorado Rapids’ USL affiliate club Charlotte Independence defeated the Harrisburg City Islanders 3-1 on Saturday. Scheduled to be played on Friday night, heavy rains and lightning forced the match to be pushed one day.
Charlotte were pegged back by an early goal in the 10th minute from Craig Foster who was able to beat Colorado Rapids’ loanee, John Berner. They had opportunities to level, but Islanders goalkeeper Nick Noble made some fine stops finishing the first half with five saves.
The second half would be a different story for the Independence who were awarded a penalty in the 52nd minute after a controversial handball call.
