Match Report: Early second-half goal from Whitecaps sees Rapids fall 2-1

Dominique Badji’s third goal in as many games was not enough as the Colorado Rapids Soccer Club dropped a 2-1 contest against the Western Conference leaders, Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday night at BC Place.

After earning a win and a draw in the previous two contests, interim head coach Steve Cooke opted for the same lineup for the third consecutive match. Designated Player Shkëlzen Gashi fell out of the 18 due to a left hamstring injury and was replaced on the bench by defender Mike da Fonte.

Before either team could settle into the match, Fredy Montero would give his side the lead with a great header following a pin-point cross by Yordy Reyna in the fourth minute.
