Charlotte Independence won a franchise-record sixth game in a row on Saturday, defeating defending USL champions New York Red Bulls II, and now sit second in the Eastern Conference.
The Rapids’ USL affiliate triumphed 3-2 at MSU Soccer Park, but were made to sweat in the latter stages, having led 3-0 before conceding twice in the final eight minutes of the match.
Jorge Herrera and Enzo Martinez were among the scorers, either side of a Hassan Ndam own goal. Red Bulls II struck through David Najem and Junior Flemmings.
Victory lifted the Independence above Louisville City in the standings.
