The Colorado Rapids' USL affiliate, Charlotte Independence, saw their 2016 season come to an end on Saturday night after losing to defending champions Rochester Rhinos 3-1.
Facing a tough away match in the first round, Charlotte found themselves down two goals after just 24 minutes. After conceding a third and pulling one back in the 76th minute, Rapids' loanee Joseph Greenspan had a chance to make it a one goal game, but his headed effort went wide.
John Berner, also on loan from the Rapids, played the full match for Charlotte, increasing his season starts count to 21.
