The Colorado Rapids' USL affiliate Charlotte Independence defeated the Richmond Kickers on Saturday night 1-0.
The match marked the third home game in succession and the Independence went in to the match wanting to end the run on a positive note.
Goalkeeper and Colorado Rapids loanee John Berner kept the clean sheet in the match and provided some important saves. “I think this game is very important,” said Berner. “At the end of a three game stretch we really wanted to come out with three points and I think the guys did a good job in doing so.
