Colorado Rapids had numerous targets at the start of the 2016 MLS campaign but the foundation of them all was home form.
Pablo Mastroeni was charged with winning 10 regular season games at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. It was a tall order given that the team had recorded 11 host victories during the head coach’s previous two seasons in charge.
However, Mastroeni was starting to drive through important changes and, as ever, he relished the challenge.
You could argue that Rapids 2016 are twice the team of Rapids 2015 and 2014. As if to prove it, a victory on Saturday over Orlando would provide that 10th success.
