History will be made across MLS this weekend as the league rolls out the use of Video Review, which will take in the Colorado Rapids’ home game with Vancouver Whitecaps FC (TICKETS).
The Rapids benefitted from the video review system during preseason in Tucson, when the team were awarded a late penalty, duly converted by Dillon Powers. Meanwhile, the club’s previous home game with the Whitecaps, on May 5, was used by MLS and the Professional Referee Organization (PRO) to run the first offline test of the initiative.
And so the man in the middle this Saturday, Nima Saghafi, will have four colleagues working with him, with the addition of Fotis Bazakos as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
