For their second match of the 2018 season, the Rapids Special Olympics Unified team traveled to Washington D.C. to take on D.C. United’s Unified team. This was the team’s first away trip of the season, and many of the athletes’ first time visiting the nation's capital.
During their first full day in D.C., the team explored the United States Capitol and had the opportunity to visit Colorado State Senators Michael Bennet and Cory Gardner's offices. From there, they took a right turn down Independence Avenue and headed toward the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
