Earlier this afternoon the Colorado Rapids announced that goalkeeper John Berner has been loaned to the USL side Phoenix Rising FC. Berner is the fourth Rapid to be loaned somewhat recently, and joins fellow Rapid Sam Hamilton in the Valley of the Sun. The Rapids can call him back at any time.
With this move, the Rapids don’t currently have a third string goalkeeper in Denver. Cody Mizell has been killing it for the Charlotte Independence, so maybe they are calling him up? We will definitely need someone assuming starter Tim Howard leaves again for the USMNT in October.
