Giving away games at home, struggling to score goals, Rapids bewildered by current form

COMMERCE CITY — Alan Gordon played on two MLS championship teams with the Los Angeles Galaxy, so he knows what it takes to win. But at the moment the Rapids striker and his teammates are bewildered by what ails the team.

They have the worst record in the league. They have scored the fewest goals. They have lost their last two home games after going undefeated in the previous 19 games at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. They gave up the game-winner in a 1-0 loss to Vancouver Friday night in the 84th minute. In the previous home game they led rival Real Salt Lake 1-0 in the 85th minute, then conceded two goals.
