COMMERCE CITY — The Rapids moved into a second-place tie with the Los Angeles Galaxy in the Western Conference on Saturday night but left their home field frustrated after a scoreless draw with ninth-place San Jose.
The Earthquakes probably were quite content to secure a point on the road, but the Rapids must have wanted more for their efforts. Only six games remain in the regular season.
Colorado had the better part of the game for the first 20-25 minutes, creating a few nice chances while limiting San Jose possession. Marlon Hairston had a great chance in the 15th minute after taking a chip pass from Dillon Powers and toeing the ball over onrushing San Jose goalkeeper David Bingham.
