Frank Lampard has spoken of his pride at being the first player to score a hat trick for New York City FC.
The 38-year-old's triple inspired a 5-1 win over Colorado Rapids, which consolidated NYCFC's position at the top of MLS' Eastern Conference standings.
"Really happy, I didn't realize that," said Lampard. "I know it is a very short history but it's a great accolade for me as a person. I'm very happy and when I'm playing well, feeling good, obviously I can score goals, I've manage to do since I've been fit."
Lampard's haul means he now has eight goals this season, all of which have been scored in the last nine games.
