PORTLAND, Ore. — The Rapids went into one of the toughest environments in North American soccer and escaped with a point. Despite the Timbers’ unusually lowly spot on the table, they were a formidable opponent playing in a recently refurbished Providence Park.

“It was an exciting and entertaining game,” Rapids interim head coach Conor Casey said of the 2-2 draw. “It was a good show for the fans and a great atmosphere. We’re a bit disappointed, we had great chances to win.”

A crowd of 25,218 was on hand to see the Rapids twice come back.
