HIGHLANDS RANCH — For Broomfield's Eagles, it was another step in what they hope will involve a couple more.
Runners-up in Class 5A the past three seasons in girls soccer, the Eagles went into Shea Stadium on Wednesday and handled host ThunderRidge 2-0 in the state quarterfinals. Broomfield will take a 15-2-1 mark into Saturday's semifinals at Sports Authority Stadium against defending state champion and top-seeded Grandview. Broomfield, by the way, was seeded a low No. 12 despite its considerable history.
"Yep, I'm excited," Eagles senior Michaela Stark said. "I think going in as an underdog has been really fun for us, actually.
