Dillon Serna gets lone goal as Rapids beat Sporting KC

COMMERCE CITY — There haven't been many opportunities for Dillon Serna to shine this season for the Rapids. The team abounds with talented attackers and the Brighton product has started only one game. When he plays, it is to bring some spark and pace into the game as a sub.

But Serna didn't waste any time Wednesday night when he came off the bench, coming on in the 76th minute and scoring two minutes later, saving a home side that seemed a bit sluggish for most of the evening.

Moments after Sporting KC defender Ike Opara was sent off for his second yellow card, Serna cut across field from the right wing and fired a left-footer from 25 yards that gave the Rapids (7-2-2) a 1-0 win and kept them undefeated at home (6-0).
