The Colorado Rapids’ miserable 2018 campaign is over. Well, pretty much.
Colorado was mathematically eliminated from playoff contention Saturday after losing to Atlanta United on Saturday. Now it’s just running out the final six games. It’s a far cry from the squad that reached the Western Conference Finals just two seasons ago.
So what happened? A stagnant offense and a lackluster defense doesn’t make for a good combination. Colorado that is averaging just 1.11 goals per game — worst in the MLS — and the team got rid of their top strikers Dominique Badji and Joe Mason during the season.
