The first match back from a break is always a tough one and this was no different. The players were a little rusty and some opportunities were missed early. But after a few lucky bounces sandwiched between the Rapids back line going to sleep, the Rapids beat the Chicago Fire 2-1.
Not much happened in the first half. Doyle had a couple good opportunities and the Fire were playing deep, sometimes having 10 behind the ball. But things changed in the second half.
Shortly after a handball in the box by Chicago wasn't called, Sean Johnson made the wrong pass out, Dillon Powers stole the ball and got it to Kevin Doyle who was able to get the ball in the net.
