Colorado Rapids acquire Younes Namli on loan as designated player

For years the Rapids have sought a central attacking midfielder, and on Wednesday, they got him. Viewed as the final piece to complete a cohesive offense, Younes Namli has been signed by Colorado to become the sixth Designated Player (DP) in club history.

Namli, 25, joins on a two-year loan from FK Krasnodar in Russia. The Rapids will have an option to buy his rights as well as clauses that would automatically activate his purchase if he hits certain marks.

The Danish native was acquired by Krasnodar last summer at a fee of $2.28 million on a deal that lasted until 2023.
