The Colorado Rapids on Monday acquired attacker Shkelzen Gashi from FC Basel as a designated player.
The 6-foot Gashi, 27, was the 2014 Swiss League player of the year and is a two-time Golden Boot winner for scoring the most goals in the league during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.
"Shkëlzen was our top attacking target this offseason," Rapids vice president of soccer operations Paul Bravo said in a news release. "He has proven to be a prolific goalscorer in his club's domestic and European success."
Since 2014, Gashi scored 25 goals in 41 matches for FC Basel.
