BOULDER — Shay Fields toils ever so slightly out of the spotlight. He likes it that way.
He has the perfect cover in Colorado senior wide receiver Nelson Spruce, whose work ranks among the nation's best. Spruce earned his spotlight, whether it's double coverage on the field or photo spreads for magazine covers off it.
Fields is getting there.
And he's closing in fast.
Anyone who has seen the sophomore wide receiver in camp this preseason says he appears ready to break out.
Typical is the comment of CU receivers coach Troy Walters.
"I tell you what, to me he's had a camp that to me signals he's going to have a monster year," Walters said.
