GOLDEN – Colorado track and field sophomore Avery McMullen climbed up the record book in the women's long jump Friday afternoon here, moving within four inches of breaking the record.
McMullen had the win from her first jump, leaping 6.02 meters. That wasn't enough for her as she jumped 5.95 on her third jump and then hit the big one on her final jump at 6.04 meters (19-9.75). All three jumps were personal bests for her and she moves to third all-time in CU history with the leap.
McMullen now has the farthest indoor jump for a Buff since 1996, and the third-farthest jump in the past 20 years for a CU woman.
