Jalen Sami anchoring CU Buffs’ defensive line

Statistically, there’s nothing about Jalen Sami’s freshman year with the Colorado football team that stands out.

The Buffaloes’ starting nose tackle has record 11 tackles, with one for loss and he’s had one quarterback pressure.

The impact of the 6-foot-6, 320-pounder is significant, however.

“First of all, he’s a great young man,” CU head coach Mel Tucker said. “He works really hard. He’s a low maintenance player and he’s always where he’s supposed to be, doing what he’s supposed to do.

“He makes our defense better when he’s in there. He can control the middle; he can command a double team, which is important at his spot.
