How a 3-0 CU Soccer win became a game that never happened

It was a thundery Thursday afternoon at Prentup Field when the University of Colorado took to the pitch to play against their in-state rivals, the Colorado State Rams. The Buffs dominated the match from start to finish as three first half goals carried them to a 3-0 win in their opening match of the 2021 regular season.

However, lightning struck twice near Prentup Field, and multiple NCAA rules determined that the game would not be continued due to a lack of communication. The game against CSU was never technically played and the Buffs record remains at 0-0-0.

Colorado got off to a blazing fast start against CSU as sophomore forward Shyra James launched a shot over the head of the Ram’s junior goalkeeper Amanda Green in the third minute of play.
