The plan, at the time, made perfect sense. Yet the timing proved to be the cruelest twist of all for Lucas Siewert during the sudden and gut-wrenching end to his college basketball career.
Siewert, the lone four-year senior on the Colorado men’s basketball team this past season, graduated this week, a milestone that was supposed to bring his parents, Osni and Silvia, to Boulder from their native Brazil. Obviously it’s not an easy trip, and since Siewert’s parents had managed to visit for a few games during his Buffaloes career, they figured they would pass on Senior Day at the final home game in favor of visiting for their son’s college graduation.
