Golfers Tie For Fifth In Oregon

PALM DESERT, Calif. — The University of Colorado men's golf team inched up a spot to a third place finish here Friday, as the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate came to a close.

Host Wyoming held off the field in claiming its own tourney, as the Cowboys turned in an even-par 288 score in the final round to win with a 7-under 857 score. Fresno State moved from third to second with the best single round team Friday (4-under 284) to close at 4-under 860.

The Buffaloes, ranked No. 47 – the highest that competed here – were the only other team under par, finishing with a 1-under 863 on the 7,305-yard, par-72 Classic Club Course layout; CU had the second-best final round score of 3-under 285.
