Golfers Take Lead In Own Mark Simpson-CU Invitational

ERIE — The University of Colorado men's golf team started slow but ended hot here Monday as the Buffaloes are in the lead after two rounds of their own 7th Annual Mark Simpson-CU Invitational.

The Buffaloes utilized a 12-under par 276 team score in the second round to vault into a five-stroke lead, as CU owns a team total of 558 (18-under) with one round left to play. Utah, the first round leader, is in second place with a 563 total (13-under), with Campbell, Houston Baptist and Wyoming all tied for third at 11-under 565.

The Rocky Mountain state schools owned the leaderboard after the first round with Utah (277, 11-under), Wyoming (280) and Colorado (282) in the top three spots after 18 holes on a day where the weather and conditions couldn't be more perfect (sunshine, no cloud cover and temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s).
