Golfers Open In 22nd in Stanford's "The Goodwin"

Paterson Cards Even-Par 70 To Lead Buffs

PALO ALTO, Calif. — The University of Colorado men's golf team started poorly here Thursday, but did rally for a respectable finish as the Buffaloes find themselves in 22nd place after the first round of Stanford's "The Goodwin."

No. 66 and host Stanford is in the lead after posting a 5-under 275 score, good for a three-stroke edge on No. 8 Arizona State (278). No. 62 San Diego and No. 95 Denver are tied for third, four back at 279, with No. 98 Washington State rounding out the top five with an even par total of 280.
