FORT COLLINS — Despite thriving with the sort of versatile and selfless game all coaches yearn for out of their point guards, Brent Wrapp only had one Division I scholarship offer following a roundly successful career at Fairview High School.
And, truth be told, it wasn't much of an offer either.
Yes, Cal State-Bakersfield's Rod Barnes was sold on the long and lanky kid out of Boulder that one of his assistants with Colorado ties, Jeff Conarroe, was raving about. But Barnes didn't have an immediate opening on his roster, and so he asked Wrapp to not only redshirt his first season, but to walk-on and pay his own way until a scholarship opened up the following year.
