Darrin Chiaverini on Mel Tucker, staff defections and why CU football “can be great again”

BOULDER — Darrin Chiaverini feels your pain.

All of it. Every last wound. Few bleed black and gold as richly as the CU Buffs’ interim head football coach, who caught 97 passes as a wideout in Boulder from 1995-98 and has worn several hats since joining the Buffs staff as an assistant coach in 2016.

He’s been where CU recruits in the Class of 2020 and 2021 are, too. Uncertain what will happen next as CU looks to hire a replacement for Mel Tucker, who bolted for Michigan State last week.
