Less than two weeks after setting a CU freshman record in the 1,500 meters at the Stanford Twilight, Colorado's Dani Jones accomplished the same feat — at the same venue, no less — in the 800 meters Sunday at the Payton Jordan Invitational.
Jones' time of 2:05.27 was good for fifth place overall and enough to surpass the mark set by her teammate Elissa Mann, the previous record holder. Jones ranks third on CU's 800 all-time performers list behind Jenny Simpson (2:02.54) and Lee Ballenger (2:03.7), while Mann is fourth with a time of 2:05.78 from the April 22 Stanford Twilight.
